What does weight-neutral nutrition support look like for someone living with diabetes?
This support recognizes that how we eat can have a direct impact on blood sugars, and that there are many ways to support blood sugar stability that do not require you to cut out foods or restrict yourself. Food does not exist in a vacuum, and this support explores how and why we eat without focusing on the size of your body. It also includes exploring other factors that impact blood sugar such as stress, sleep habits, medications, and movement.
Do I have to have diabetes or an eating disorder to work with you?
No! My experience within the conventional system really showed me the gap that exists for folks who are living with diabetes and an eating disorder, and I struggled with how disordered some of the typical nutrition recommendations are for folks living with diabetes. That is why I created Homebody Nutrition, but I am happy to provide compassionate nutrition counseling for folks who are looking for an anti-diet and weight-inclusive approach.
Which insurance companies offer coverage for dietitian services?
Many private insurance companies offer coverage for registered dietitian services. I encourage folks to reach out to their insurance companies to confirm their specific coverage as I am not able to determine an individual’s coverage. At this time I offer direct billing to the following companies: Alberta Blue Cross, Canada Life, Desjardins, Manulife, Sunlife, and a few other smaller options. Many other companies offer reimbursement for dietitian services.
Do you offer sliding scale options?
I do offer reduced cost nutrition therapy spots, with priority for members of marginalized communities and those experiencing financial hardship. Please reach out to me directly for more information.
Where is the data for your practice housed?
All data for my website, email system, and electronic health record (Colib) is housed within Canada.
Do you utilize AI for your website or charting?
No, I do not utilize AI for any aspects of Homebody Nutrition. All resources, website information and medical charting is made by humans, for humans.
I have more questions, can we connect?
You can book a free connection call using the “book now” option, or send questions to me using the contact form on the site.
